Description

The work is based on photography, transferred to a translucent acrylicpolymer – the so called "skin" –  which is mounted on acrylic glass(perspex).

The image of the series "Katakomben_Paris are taken at the catacombs in Paris. Deep under the city there are the bedded bones of the graveyards, that had to give way for the expanding city in the 18th century. Because of the transfer into the acrylicpolymer – first it is liquid – you can see the brush marks, the distortions of the skin..it is not only the abstraction of the photographic image itself,  but the abstraction that resides of the transferring-process and the material, that  gets your perspective from the sensitive surface to the image and back to the surface. The work deals with the extension of photography and has a painterly quality.

Because of the translucent material and the transparent acrylic glass(perspex) the light (for ex. change of daylight) has very interesting effects so that the translucidity is sometimes more seen, depending on the place of the work and time of day.
