Artist: Frederike von Cranach

Description

The "Drop Series" was created to mirror slow, natural, beautiful and unique processes constantly taking place around us inspired by dripstone caves. Dripstone caves grow extremely slow and are very sensible Ecosystems that can easily be disturbed by human interference. "Egagropili" experiences an equally slow metamorphosis from a living organism in the Mediterranean Sea to an object washed up at the shores of the Mediterranean. They are straw like pellets that occur from Neptune Grass and go through a similar process like tumbleweed in deserts but under water. Their Ecosystem under water is equally fragile as dripstone caves and should remind us that the permanent disruption of the Ecosystems on our planet will have extreme consequences for our planet and therefor our live on earth.
