The work is based on photography, transferred to a translucent acrylicpolymer – the so called "skin" – which is mounted on acrylic glass(perspex). This image of "ruins" of the series "Erdenrest" is taken at a demolitionarea in Hamburg by night (Essohäuser/St.Pauli). Because of the transfer into the acrylicpolymer – first it is liquid – you can see the brush marks, the distortions of the skin, the abrasion of the photographic pigments…it is not only the abstraction of the photographic image itself, but the abstraction that resides of the transferring-process and the material, that gets your perspective from the sensitive surface to the deconstruction of the image back to the surface. The work deals with the extension of photography and has a painterly quality.
Because of the translucent material and the transparent acrylic glass(perspex) the light (for ex. change of daylight) does a lot to the work.
