"100 years of the German-Danish border" – Germans and Danes share the same landscape, the same sea, the same sky: that is the central message of the impressive pictures painted by Christopher Lehmpfuhl on the occasion of the peaceful demarcation of the border between the two countries 100 years ago. The monotype is based on a work from this series.
They are evidence of a unique time, because the border project has fallen in the middle of a phase in which precisely this border has been closed due to the Corona crisis. This not only makes the painter's work more difficult, it also changes his view of the border and his choice of motif. "As an artist, I naturally want to take a stand with my work on what is happening around me," says Lehmpfuhl.
