The topography of the Scottish Highlands, characterized by dramatic yet gently flowing landscapes, high mountains, deep valleys and many lochs, served Rubica von Streng as inspiration for the works in this six-part series of works on paper created in 2022. Following in the footsteps of her ancestors, who lived in Scotland some 700 years ago, the artist had made a journey there and explored nature in the north of the country. Characteristic of the region are the shapes and colors reminiscent of Martian landscapes, which are reflected in the works as abstract-looking formations. As material for the series, the painter used handmade, multiple primed Khadi paper and oil paint applied in thin layers.

Die Topografie der schottischen Highlands, geprägt durch dramatische, dennoch sanft fließende
Landschaften, hohe Berge, tiefe Täler und viele Seen, diente Rubica von Streng als Inspiration für die Arbeiten dieser sechsteiligen Werkserie, die
2022 entstand. Auf den Spuren ihrer Vorfahren, die vor rund 700 Jahren in Schottland lebten, hatte die Künstlerin eine Reise dorthin unternommen und erkundete zugleich die Natur im Norden des Landes. Charakteristisch für die Region sind die an Marslandschaften erinnernden Formen und Farben, die sich in den Werken als abstrakt anmutende Bildformationen niederschlagen. Als Material für die Serie verwendete die Malerin handgeschöpftes, mehrfach grundiertes Khadi-Papier sowie in dünnen Schichten aufgetragene Ölfarbe.
