Max von Schwerin lives and works in Bad Oldesloe.
Born in Cologne in 1982, the artist Max von Schwerin originally wanted to become a writer, but came to painting via illustration. Here he seeks direct, unaffected expression through clear, continuous lines. This painting arises from his subconscious and attempts to capture dynamics.
The artist's aim is for the viewer to enter into a dialogue with the work of art. His expectations and experiences set the painting in motion and reflect his own identity. In this sense, his work is an individual memory.
‘The artist Max von Schwerin is a provocateur of the art world, which is not apparent at first glance from his works. Using classical techniques, he attempts nothing less than a complete redefinition of our visual language, thereby posing the question of comprehensive communication. His central demand that art should be intuitively understandable attacks the established structures of the market in favour of a viewer-oriented representation of culture.’
