In meinen Arbeiten greife ich sowohl die Taktik der Surrealisten als auch der Pop Art auf. Erstere l\u00f6sten Bildelemente aus ihrem bisherigen Zusammenhang und lie\u00dfen ihnen in einem neuen Kontext andere, teils gegens\u00e4tzliche Bedeutung zuwachsen, w\u00e4hrend in der Pop Art die Bildwelten von Massenmedien und Werbung in die Hochkultur eingef\u00fchrt und damit traditionelle Hierarchien aufgel\u00f6st wurden. Mein Fundus besteht neben kunsthistorischen Elementen auch aus Bildmaterial aus Zeitungen, von Reportagen und Magazinen, Comics und dem Internet. Mit meiner collagierenden Neu-Zusammensetzung hinterfrage ich menschliche K\u00f6rper-, Rollen- und Selbstverst\u00e4ndnisse, die uns als \u201enat\u00fcrlich\u201c erscheinen, doch durch kulturelle Vorbilder und Rollen-Modelle geformt werden, sowie die Grundlagen unseres Moralverst\u00e4ndnisses.<\/p>\n
Die Selfportraits entstanden nach meinem Stipendium in der Villa Aurora in Los Angeles. Die Supermacht Amerika zeigte deutliche Erm\u00fcdungserscheinungen; die Hoffnung, dass westliche, aufgekl\u00e4rte Demokratien einen Siegeszug \u00fcber die Welt antreten, auch.<\/p>\n
In my works I take up the tactics of both the Surrealists and Pop Art. The former detached pictorial elements from their previous context and allowed them to take on other, sometimes contradictory meanings in a new context, while Pop Art introduced the visual worlds of mass media and advertising into high culture, thus dissolving traditional hierarchies. In addition to art-historical elements, my fundus also consists of pictorial material from newspapers, from reports and magazines, comics, and the Internet. With my collage-like re-composition I question human body, role and self-understandings, which appear to us as "natural", but are formed by cultural models and role models, as well as the foundations of our moral understanding.<\/p>\n
