\nLUCIFERASENES LEUCHTEN<\/p>\n
Das Leuchtk\u00e4fer-Projekt war eine k\u00fcnstlerisch-poetische Untersuchung in den Sommermonaten von 2013 bis 2015 und steht im Kontext k\u00fcnstlerischer Feldforschung. Silke Silkeborg recherchierte in Zusammenarbeit mit deutschen und Schweizer Biologen das Vorkommen von Leuchtk\u00e4fern an verschiedenen Orten (Norditalien, Schweiz, \u00d6sterreich, Deutschland), um vor Ort nachts das Leuchtk\u00e4fer-Ph\u00e4nomen zu malen. Dabei versuchte sie den momenthaften Charakter des Erlebten, der \u201eVerfl\u00fcchtigung des lichten Augenblicks\u201c, durch die zeitintensive \u00dcberf\u00fchrung in Malerei entgegenzuwirken. Die Begeisterung \u00fcber die kleinen, pulsierenden, fl\u00fcchtigen und au\u00dferordentlich fragilen Gl\u00fchwurm-Lichter verweist sowohl auf unsere visuell biologische Pr\u00e4ferenz von Licht im Dunklen, als auch auf die in der Neugierde erzeugte Lust an der Beobachtung von Unbeschreiblichem, nicht vollst\u00e4ndig erkl\u00e4rbaren Erfahrungen. Tanzende Lichtsignale der balzenden Leuchtk\u00e4fer entdecken zu wollen ist das Begehren eines Erlebnisses, das nur im Dunklen stattfindet. Insgesamt sind durch die k\u00fcnstlerische Recherche 39 kleinformatige \u00d6lbil- der entstanden und einige Zeichnungen.<\/p>\n
\u201eEs gibt gen\u00fcgend Gr\u00fcnde, pessimistisch zu sein, gleichzeitig ist es aber umso notwendiger, im Dunkel der Nacht die Augen zu \u00f6ffnen, unabl\u00e4ssig in Bewegung zu sein und sich auf die Suche nach Gl\u00fchw\u00fcrmchen zu begeben.\u201c<\/p>\n

The Firefly Project was an artistic-poetic exploration undertaken during the summer months of 2013 to 2015 in the context of artistic field research. In collaboration with German and Swiss biologists, Silke Silkeborg conducted research on the distribution of fireflies at different locations (Northern Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany) with the aim of capturing the firefly phenomenon in painting, directly on site and at night. In the process, she attempted to counteract the momentary nature of the experience, the \u201cfleetingness of the lucid moment\u201d, through the time-consuming transferal into painting. The enthusiasm for the small, vibrant, fugitive and particularly fragile firefly lights derives both from our visual biological preference for light in the dark and our curious pleasure in encountering and studying such occurrences beyond description or explanation. The wish to discover the dancing light signals of the courting fireflies arises from a desire for an experience only to be made in the dark. This artistic research resulted in a total of 39 small-format paintings and several drawings.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are plenty of reasons for being pessimistic, yet at the same time it is all the more necessary to open one\u2019s eyes in the dark of night, to be unrelentingly in motion and to set out in search of fireflies.\u201d<\/p>\n
